Borges's last letter: Why did not die in Argentina?
On completion 110 years of the birth of one of the world's leading pen, bring to mind the poet's last letter, written 3 weeks before his death, which explains his decision to stay in Geneva and not return to Buenos Aires, he said, "is a city like many others."
CITY BUENOS AIRES ( Urgente24 ). "It's a city like so many other" . So defined in 1986, Jorge Luis Borges to Buenos Aires, the home town he decided to never come back because there were no "the guitar, the milongas, the cisterns and the courts" that characterized the landscape he loved.
The letter was sent to the then director of the agency EFE three weeks before the death of the author of 'El Aleph' and released on May 21, 1986.
The letter was written to "ending once and for all the harassment of journalists and calls and questions" about the controversy that created around them, based on his residence in Geneva, Switzerland, and his marriage to his secretary and companion María Kodama.

Dear friends of the agency EFE:
I send these lines to publish them wherever they want. I do to end once and for all with the siege of journalists and calls and questions that I'm tired.
am a free man. I decided to stay in Geneva, because Geneva is for the happiest years of my life. Mi Buenos Aires remains the guitars, the milongas, the wells of the courtyards. None of that exists now. It is a big city like so many others. In Geneva, I feel mysteriously happy. That has nothing to do with the worship of my ancestors and the essential love of country. I find it odd that someone does not understand and respect the decision of a man who has taken as a character from Wells, the determination to be an invisible man.
